The aroma of freshly-ground coffee is a new, pleasant addition to Ambrose Hall. The coffee shop is located in the newly-renovated Beehive and officially opened on Jan. 14.

Students around campus have been questioning the location change of the coffee shop.

The coffee shop was originally located on the east side of campus off of Harrison Street, out of everyone’s way so it was difficult to receive business. Maintenance and housekeeping has now taken the old coffee shop’s place.

Dawn Hayes, supervisor of the coffee shop, who has been working with Ambrose for 25 years, elaborates on that matter.

“In the Beehive, there used to be a snack bar in place of the coffee shop. It was basically a miniature Rolgaski Center where we sold sandwiches, hand-rolled pizzas and drinks. I started working there when I was 16 years-old,” Hayes said.

The coffee shop offers paninis, sandwiches, soup, salad, espresso drinks, frappuccinos, smoothies, bottled drinks, pastries and more.

“Compared to last year, the location is really convenient,” junior Theresa Diggs said. “I am in the Beehive almost every day doing homework.” Diggs makes frequent visits to the coffee shop about four times a week.

“It works for what I need while I study,” she said. “It is perfect!”

Stop by to have a warm latte or grab a bite to eat. It is a great way to start off the semester and new year.
