Where are you from?
I’m from the state of Bahia, Brazil, we have cool beaches and people are very loving.
How did you decide to come to St. Ambrose?
I like traveling a lot and experiencing new cultures, and since the State University of Santa Cruz, which is the one I study at, has a nice relationship with St. Ambrose, I thought it would be a good experience to be immersed in an academic environment.
What has been the most interesting part of living in America?
The people are extremely nice and helpful; my roommates are very outgoing and we have a lot of fun together, plus, the boys are easy on the eyes.
What has surprised you while living here?
People are always in a hurry, and they are obsessed with peanut butter.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I really like reading fantasy books; I’m obsessed with Harry Potter. I also enjoy listening to music and hanging out with my friends.
Tell us about your family:
My parents have been married for 40 years. I have two older brothers Marcelo 34 and Márcio 30. Marcelo lives with his girlfriend, and Márcio is married and has a son, Gabriel. We are all very close, family is a big thing in Brazil.
What are some things you miss about home?
I really miss my family, the food and having an afternoon beer by the beach.
What are some things that you would like to experience here before you go back to Brazil?
I would really like to go to a casino because it is against the law to have casinos in Brazil, so I have never been to one. I would also like to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando.
If you could invite three people to dinner—living or deceased—who would they be and why?
If I could invite three people to dinner it would be Taylor Swift, because I love her, Justin Timberlake, because I’m obsessed with him and his music since I was a kid and my cousin Mariana because I think she would have fun with us.
What do you like to do for fun?
I like to watch movies and to go out with my friends. I also love shopping for shoes, clothes and accessories; I have a passion for fashion.
What are you plans for after this semester?
I plan on going back to Brazil to get my degree in International Relations and find a nice job.
