The student, the budget and wardrobe

The coveted September Issue. Idolized by every Vogue reader. Better known as the fashion bible, the September Issue holds the styles, trends and designers who will make their marks on the upcoming fashion year. This fall is no exception, and even though SAU might not be featured in Vogue or on a runway at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, this is our September Issue.

For one reason or another, there are certain styles that men and women cannot agree on. During the summer, men will usually question a woman wearing a romper. Is it a dress? Overalls? They have no clue.

I am a strong believer that women should wear what they want. In the summer you will often find me in a romper, because well, they’re comfortable. After all, women aren’t dressing for men…if that was the case they wouldn’t have many styles or pieces to pick from. They dress for themselves and other women, who appreciate and admire a lady with style.

Like any other season, this fall will feature styles that men will hate, women will love and vice versa. That is an obvious statement, so I had to dig a little deeper.

What styles are men loving this season, what styles are women loving and do the two ever cross? A survey of SAU students around campus shed some light on the what’s in this fall.

So, what do women want?

Heavy knits. Dress them up with a skirt or layer them over dresses. Dress them down with leggings or jeans and boots for a cozy fall outfit. Peplum tops which are hopefully here to stay! The feminine fit is flattering on any body type. And, camo, because who doesn’t love a pieces that is both edgy and versatile to spice up an outfit.

Fur, leather and black & white. They love these styles because they are pieces any man would notice. All three can be worn together or separately to make a sleek statement that is sure to turn a few heads.

Other trends making a splash this fall include full skirts, bomber jackets and classic fabrics, like tweed.Whatever trend you follow this fall, make it yours and as always, style on, SAU.
