The SAU men’s soccer team is off to a good start as the season starts getting tougher. The team had a great start with their official preseason scrimmage games. They played the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and Marian College at Platteville and came back home with wins.
With their first official season game, they faced up against Trinity Christian College and returned with a win. The game ended with the final score of 2-0. Ross Hendry and Daniel Brown, both first year students, scored the goals.
The team was back on the road on Aug. 31 to Bourbonnais, Ill. They faced up against Olivet Nazarene Tigers and the game ended at 4-1, in favor of the Tigers. Sam Heath had the only goal for the Bees.
SAU men’s soccer was back home on Sept. 14 hosting Judson University Eagles. Things did not go as planned, as they lost to the Eagles, with the score of 4-2. Heath and Ryan McEvoy had the goals in that game. With the boys losing two games in a row, they knew they needed to get their head back in the game and get different results.
On Sept. 6, they were back on the road to Deerfield, Ill., to go against Trinity International University. They had a win that day with the return of Charlie MacInnes, who scored the only goal on a penalty kick in the 63rd minute.
The men’s soccer team will host five of its next seven opponents, so head out to the Davenport soccer complex and support them.
