Chicago style pizza always seems to be the best when it’s actually from Chicago. But Antonella’s Pizzeria begs to differ. Antonella’s has been serving up its version of Chicago style in the Quad Cities area since the 1980s.
The demand for Chicago style pizza in the Quad Cities is high, so Antonella’s puts out the best product possible, and last year won the award for best pizza in the Quad Cities.
In addition to pizzas, Antonella’s serves up pasta and antipasti dishes as well as classic Italian dishes, such as chicken parmigiana and chicken cacciatore.
Giovanni Antonella and his wife founded Antonella’s. Their original restaurant was in Muscatine and after a few years, they decided to move the location to Davenport.
“They wanted a better location, with more traffic,” Tricia, the hostess, said. “Davenport is obviously a bigger city than Muscatine and the downtown area appealed to the Antonella’s.”
Antonella’s advertises in the River City Reader and offers coupons early. For now, they are a “Ma and Pop,” restaurant, but in the future they hope to expand their business.
“We hope to start catering within the next couple of years,” Tricia said. “That would really boost our business, but it is a big step to take.”
Antonella’s even served President Obama earlier this fall when he was in Davenport on the campaign trail.
Antonella’s is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch on the weekdays and 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. for dinner. On weekends, lunch is served from 3 p.m. to 12 p.m. and dinner is served from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
